The pomegranate probably originates from the island of Socotra off the coast of Somalia, from where it was spread throughout the world. It blooms on this year's and older wood, it bears fruit only on older wood in the third to sixth year. It grows to a height of up to 2 meters. Pleniflora variety is an ornamental cultivar with full deep orange-red flowers, blooming all summer - from June to August. It bears no fruit. Pomegranate grows well in sandy and rocky soil, in a warm place, in our country it is grown in a flower pot as a low bush. In winter, it needs vegetative rest: a maximum of 6°C, a minimum of -10°C, it must shed its leaves in order to flower again. The Pleniflora variety is not frost-resistant.
