Cornus mas L. highly fertile variety with large fruits
Origin: Selection from plants after induced polyploidy by application of colchicine. The variety was introduced by VÚOOD a.s. Bojnice in 2009.
Plant: The tree is of medium height, with a medium-dense crown with short lateral
growth.
The leaves are medium-sized, light green in color, slightly wavy along the edges. The flowers are
arranged in whorls.
The crown petals are golden yellow in color. The scar is at the same level as
the anthers. Flowering begins in the second half of March.
Fruits: The fruits are large (with a weight of 100 fruits of 362 g), balanced in size and shape.
The flesh is dark red in color with a very good sweet-sour taste. The stone is medium-sized,
it is separable from the pulp.
The fruits ripen in the first half of September. They do not get crushed when harvested,
they tolerate transport well.
Cultivation characteristics: Grows well in soils with a neutral to alkaline reaction. It is
adaptable and can be grown in all areas suitable for growing fruit.
Frost resistance in wood and flower is very good.
Resistance to diseases and pests: Does not suffer from diseases and pests.
Usefulness: It bears abundantly and regularly.
The fruits have a high nutritional value, are suitable for direct consumption in fresh condition and for processing.
The plant has a rich root system, strengthens the soil and prevents erosion.
It is important for bees due to its early flowering.
