This Ichang papeda forms an evergreen shrub or small tree growing to a height of 4.5 m, which is sparsely thorny (almost thornless or has only 5 mm thorns.
It is hardy to zone 8. The flowers are hermaphroditic, odorless, resembling bells. It prefers medium-heavy soil with a lot of compost, but it must not grow in the shade and must be moist, but not waterlogged.
The fruits are used similarly to lemons, they are 5-10 cm large but have large seeds of 15 x 8 mm (approx. 10 pcs).
The taste is reminiscent of grapefruit, it is sour-sweet-bitter. The peel is 0.5 - 1 cm thick.
Inside is a yellow-green pulp with 12 segments.
Fruits can be yellow or green depending on the degree of ripeness. They are vertically grooved, mainly in the middle part of the fruit.
The petiole of the twig consists of a five-parted calyx. The leaves are up to 15 cm long and 4 cm wide.
In the lower part of the leaf, the stipules are up to 6 cm long and 3 cm wide with a 0.5 long petiole.
Vination slightly prominent. It has a lemon aroma.
