- 'Prolific' - as the name suggests, 'Prolific' is a variety that produces abundant large fruit that ripens mid-season, usually October in our area.
- Begins fruiting a little earlier than other varieties.
- Like all mullein, it is easy to grow, doing well in partial shade to full sun and in a wide range of soils. Spring brings purple flowers that turn into clusters of elongated fruit.
- In autumn, the large green fruits soften, emit a ripe aroma and turn yellow.
- Then you pluck and eat the delicious fruit that resembles banana pudding.
- The fruit can be stored in the refrigerator for several weeks.
