- Cydomalus (Malus domestica Borg. x Cydonia oblonga Mill.), originally a Russian cross, which found application in Italy in the 1990s, where this rootstock is propagated mainly by the in-vitro method (from Russia he introduced the initial material by Professor Roversi from the University of Piacenza).
- Cydomalus is a medium to weak growing rootstock (approximately 60% OHxF 333), tolerant of a higher calcium content in the soil (over 6-7% CaCO3) and low temperatures.
- Affinity with pear and apple varieties is good.
- Propagation by woody cuttings is just as good as propagation by divisions.
- Cydomalus can also be used as a stem-forming variety (even in combination with apple rootstocks).
- rarity!!!
