  • Bez black Sambo is the only Czechoslovak variety, it was bred at the Research Institute of Fruit and Ornamental Trees in Bojnice. It grows to a height of 3 - 5 meters and a width of 2 - 4 meters. From May to June it blooms with the most typical, strongly aromatic white flowers, from the second half of August black-purple berries 4-6 mm in size ripen. Flowers and fruits are suitable for further processing, for example for the production of lemonades and syrups.
  • Black elderberry (Sambucus nigra) is an undemanding leafy shrub growing to a height of 7 m, in good conditions up to 10 m. The fruits are mainly referred to as elderberry, chebzinka or goatberry. Black bez is native to Europe outside the northernmost regions, it is also found in Asia. In nature, it grows freely in places rich in nutrients, especially nitrogen, and in moist places. It has no special requirements for soil or habitat, it is fully frost-resistant. It tolerates cutting very well. Some species of birds also seek elderberry fruits as food. Both the fruit and the flower are used for processing. It is widely used in medicine, pharmacy and food industry.
