  • It comes from southern Europe and northern Africa. It most often grows up to 20 meters, but exceptionally there are specimens 30 meters high. Young plants have different needles from the needles of mature plants. The needles of young plants are greenish-blue, usually 2-4 cm long. In older plants, the needles are significantly longer and greener. Cones reach a length of 15 cm and mature up to 3 years. The seeds are 1-2 cm long and edible. Today, this pine is widespread in subtropical and warmer temperate regions around the world, for example in Australia, the USA, or in Western Europe as far as England.

  • This exotic-looking conifer requires a sunny location and permeable soil with sand. It is quite resistant to drought, but we don't bother it with drought in a flowerpot and water it often during hot weather. Especially with young plants, we are careful not to overwater them, their roots rot relatively easily. Larger plants are somewhat frost-resistant and can be planted outside in warmer areas. If we choose outdoor planting, a protected place against freezing winds is ideal, preferably by a south wall with non-soaked soil. Needles can burn frost below -15°C, and wood can withstand short periods of up to -19°C. However, it turned out that sometimes they last significantly more or less, it probably depends on several factors and also on the origin of the plant / seed.
