- 'Meader' is a self-fertilizing variety (parthenocarpic) that produces seedless fruits if the flowers are not pollinated.
- It usually grows up to 6m in height.
- It has excellent decorative properties.
- The dark green leaves are attractive throughout the growing season before turning to exquisite shades of red and yellow in autumn.
- Fruits the size of an apricot (up to 4cm in diameter) ripen in autumn.
- 'Meader' was named after the late Elwin Meader of the University of New Hampshire.
