- Self-pollinated variety, produces fruit even without pollination by the male variety but has only average to medium sized fruit.
- It ripens in October, although some sellers erroneously claim that it ripens in summer. It is partially to fully parthenocarpic, but with a male the fruits are of better quality and larger and ripen earlier..
- Kudránia is a rare tree species in our country, related to mulberry and fig. It is closely related to the better known orange tree (Maclura pomifera), with which, according to some botanists, it shares the same genus (syn. =Maclura tricuspidata).
- It is a rare fruit tree from East Asia. It is cultivated mainly in South Korea and China. Its fruits look a bit like raspberries, are 3-5 cm large and have an orange to red or pinkish colour. Fully ripe and soft, the fruit is delicious and tastes a bit like watermelon or a combination of watermelon and mulberry. However, some people find them lacking in acidity and others say they are bland.
- The plant is usually fully hardy in this country (about -24°C). It is a crop suitable for the warmest and hottest regions of the country, with a vegetation heat sum above 2600°C (the lowlands of the Polabie and South Moravia have up to over 3000°C). Where crops such as Ziziphus jujuba, Actinidia deliciosa or the later varieties of Asimina triloba grow and mature, this is where currants should thrive. The female varieties that need pollination are earlier than the parthenocarpic varieties (which usually do not ripen here, or only in the hottest years).
