- Shumen dogwood is a variety originally from Bulgaria. The fruits are large oval, 5 - 7g, about 3 cm long, bright red. They ripen in the second half of September, they are sweet and sour, after harvesting the fruits must be left to ripen for a few days. This variety forms a tree with a pyramidal crown and grows to a height of about 4m.
- They are suitable for direct consumption, preserves, syrups, compotes, jams, they are also used to make Slovak drenkovica with an alcohol content of 52% alc. vol. In folk medicine, the fruits, leaves and bark are used, especially for digestive disorders.
