- The cornelian cherry (Cornus mas) is a deciduous shrub to a smaller tree belonging to the cornelian cherry, which is protected by law in the Czech Republic.
- It grows up to 5 meters tall, has very hard wood and a strong trunk that can be up to 25 cm in diameter.
- Even before the foliage, bisexual yellow flowers appear on the tree, the inflorescence is a cluster.
- The fruit of the - velkoplodá odrůda is a red and shiny drupe up to 30 mm in size, which hides an elongated, yellow-brown and longitudinally grooved stone.
- The fruits of cornelian cherry, are edible and are used as fruit for the production of preserves, syrups, compotes, jams, etc.
- THEY HAVE A HIGH ANTHOCYAN CONTENT.
- Large-fruited grafted varieties have fruits 3-5 cm in size. It bears fruit in 1-2 years after planting.
- Otherwise, they are similar to the use of fruits and flowers as classic seedlings.
- Due to uncertain self-pollination, it is advisable to always plant two plants to ensure good pollination. This applies to grafted varieties and seedlings.
